Airbus, a global leader in aerospace manufacturing, partnered with Synergi Tech to design and deliver a bespoke solvent and resin ordering platform as part of their 'Factory of the Future' initiative at the A350 wing facility in Broughton. The system streamlined how operatives ordered and received vital resins, integrating with a pioneering pneumatic tube delivery system.
"By combining Airbus' vision for smarter, more connected factories with Synergi Tech's expertise in bespoke software development, the project delivered a cutting-edge solution that transformed a critical aspect of production."
In such a complex manufacturing environment, ensuring that operatives could receive the correct resins quickly and reliably was critical. Previously, ordering was handled manually, with processes that were not only time-consuming but also lacked real-time visibility for both the production line operatives and the mixing bay staff. Airbus needed a seamless way for operatives to order solvents and resins directly from the production line, real-time communication between the mixing bay and the factory floor, an interface that was simple, secure, and aligned with Airbus' strict IT and security protocols, and a scalable solution that could be expanded across multiple facilities.
Synergi Tech built a custom electron desktop application designed specifically for Airbus' operational environment. The solution provided a streamlined ordering process where operatives on the A350 wing line could place solvent/resin orders digitally, mixing bay workflow integration where staff could acknowledge orders, prepare batches, and confirm dispatch, push notifications so operatives received real-time updates as soon as an order was dispatched, interactive mapping that integrated with an interactive map allowing operatives to identify their exact pneumatic tube station for delivery, and enterprise-grade security where every aspect of the system was designed and tested to meet Airbus' rigorous security requirements.
How we brought the solution to life
The system integrated seamlessly with Airbus' existing pneumatic tube delivery infrastructure, providing real-time tracking from order placement through to delivery. The electron desktop application was deployed across the A350 wing facility with comprehensive user training and support.
