Structured Cabling

Structured Cabling Installation Services

Structured cabling services for organisations across the UK. From Cat6 and Cat6A to fibre optic solutions, we design, install, test and certify the network cabling that everything else in your business runs on.

What is structured cabling?

Structured cabling is a standardised, organised system of network cabling and hardware that carries data, voice and video around a building or campus. Instead of ad hoc point-to-point wiring, a structured system uses a planned layout of cabling, patch panels and outlets, typically built on Cat6, Cat6A or fibre optic, so the network is reliable, easy to manage and simple to expand.

Synergi Tech provides structured cabling installation and network cabling services across the UK, from single offices to multi-floor and multi-site premises. Our certified installers handle design, containment, cable runs, termination, labelling and full testing and certification, so your infrastructure meets recognised standards and is documented for the future.

A well-designed cabling system future-proofs your business by supporting Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet, PoE devices such as WiFi access points and IP cameras, and higher bandwidth as your needs grow, all without disruptive rewiring.

Which cable type does your building need?

Cat6 handles Gigabit Ethernet comfortably and supports 10 Gigabit over shorter runs, which makes it the usual choice for standard office floors. Cat6A carries 10 Gigabit across a full 100 metre channel and has better crosstalk performance, so it suits longer runs, dense wireless deployments and anywhere you expect to keep the cabling well beyond the life of the current hardware. Fibre optic is used for backbone links between floors, buildings and comms rooms, where distance or electrical interference rules out copper. Most real installations combine them: fibre backbone, copper to the desk.

Testing, certification and documentation

Every installation is tested to recognised performance standards and handed over with results, not just a working socket. Each link is certified with a calibrated tester, then labelled and recorded on a port schedule and floor plan so faults can be traced to a specific outlet later. That documentation is the part most often missing from cabling installed ad hoc, and its absence is why so many faults take days to find. Our cabling work underpins our network installation and enterprise WiFi services.

Structured Cabling FAQs

Common questions about structured cabling

What is structured cabling?

Structured cabling is a standardised, organised approach to a building's network infrastructure, replacing ad-hoc point-to-point wiring with a consistent system of cabling, patch panels and outlets. It supports data, voice, WiFi, CCTV and other systems over one unified infrastructure, making the network more reliable, easier to manage and simpler to expand.

How much does structured cabling cost?

Structured cabling is typically priced per outlet, with the total depending on the number of points, cable category, cable runs and site conditions. Larger installations reduce the per-point cost. We carry out a site survey and provide a fixed quote so you know the cost up front, and we design the system to allow for future growth.

What is the difference between structured cabling and data cabling?

Data cabling refers to the individual cables that carry network data. Structured cabling is the complete, standardised system that organises those cables into a managed infrastructure with backbone cabling, patch panels, comms rooms and labelled outlets. Structured cabling is the recommended approach for any business that wants a scalable, well-documented network.

Do you provide testing, certification and warranties?

Yes. Every installation is tested and certified to the relevant standards, with documented results for each point, and we can arrange manufacturer-backed warranties on approved systems. This gives you long-term assurance and provides the documentation often required for insurance and compliance.

Can you install structured cabling in an occupied building?

Yes. We plan and phase installations around your working hours, including evenings and weekends where needed, to keep disruption to a minimum. Our engineers work cleanly with proper containment and label everything so the finished network is tidy, documented and easy to manage.
