Frequently asked questions

How long does a Microsoft 365 migration take?

A small business with straightforward email is typically migrated within one to two weeks including planning and testing. Larger organisations with file servers, SharePoint and complex permissions are migrated in planned phases over several weeks. We agree the timeline up front and most cutover work happens outside business hours.

Will we lose any emails or files during the migration?

Our process is designed to minimise the risk of data loss. We use staged migration tooling that copies your data while your existing system stays live, then verifies everything has transferred before the final cutover. Your old system remains untouched until the migration is proven complete, so there is always a fallback.

Can you migrate us from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365?

Yes. We regularly migrate businesses from Google Workspace, including Gmail, Google Drive, shared drives, calendars and contacts, into Exchange Online, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams, with folder structures and sharing permissions preserved wherever possible.

What happens to our old on-premises Exchange server?

Once your mail is fully in Exchange Online and verified, we help you decommission the old server safely, including licence cleanup, backup of legacy data and secure disposal or repurposing of the hardware. Many clients remove their last server entirely as part of the project.

Do you provide training and support after the migration?

Yes. Every migration includes user guides, a floor-walking or remote support period immediately after cutover, and optional training sessions for Teams, OneDrive and SharePoint. We can also provide ongoing Microsoft 365 management and support after the project.

How much do Microsoft 365 migration services cost?

Cost depends on the number of mailboxes, the amount of file data and the complexity of your current environment. We scope every migration after a free discovery call and provide a fixed project price, so there are no surprises. Microsoft 365 licensing is priced separately at standard Microsoft rates.

What are Microsoft 365 migration services?

Microsoft 365 migration services cover the planning, execution and aftercare involved in moving a business from its current email and file systems into Microsoft 365. That usually means migrating mailboxes into Exchange Online, moving file servers or Google Drive into SharePoint and OneDrive, and setting up Teams for calls, meetings and collaboration. A well-run migration is invisible to most staff: they leave the office using the old system and arrive the next morning using the new one, with every email, folder and calendar exactly where they expect it.

The risk in any migration is data loss and downtime, which is why the process matters more than the destination. We use staged migration tooling that copies data while your existing system stays live, verifies the copy is complete, and only then performs the final cutover, typically overnight or at a weekend. Your old system is left intact until the migration is proven, so there is always a rollback path.

Migrating from Google Workspace, Exchange or legacy systems

The most common starting points we migrate from are Google Workspace, on-premises Microsoft Exchange servers and older IMAP or POP email hosting. Each has its own quirks: Google's shared drives and sharing permissions need careful mapping into SharePoint, ageing Exchange servers often hold years of public folders and legacy archives, and hosted IMAP mail rarely includes calendars or contacts that users assume will move. Our discovery process surfaces all of this before the project starts, so the plan reflects reality rather than assumptions.

Beyond mail and files, we configure the parts of Microsoft 365 that deliver the real productivity gains: Teams for chat, meetings and phone calls, OneDrive for personal files with version history, and SharePoint for departmental document libraries with proper permissions. Security is configured as standard, including multi-factor authentication and conditional access, because a newly migrated tenant with default settings is a common target for attackers.

A migration partner, not just a project

The weeks after cutover matter as much as the migration itself. Users need somewhere to ask questions, small issues need fixing quickly, and the business needs confidence that the new platform is being looked after. Every migration we deliver includes a post-cutover support period, user guides and optional training, and many clients continue with our ongoing Microsoft 365 management, where we handle licensing, security monitoring, backup and day-to-day administration. With more than 13 years of experience and Cyber Essentials certification, we give UK businesses a single accountable partner for the whole journey to the cloud.
