Wolds Manufacturing Services is a specialist contract manufacturer of fine fragrance and cosmetic products, trusted by brands to develop and produce high-quality formulations. Synergi Tech has supported Wolds Manufacturing Services with IT services since the company was established more than 12 years ago. More recently, the business engaged Synergi Tech to design and build a bespoke software platform for its R&D department, helping modernise a critical internal process driven by changing cosmetic regulations.

As cosmetic labelling requirements evolved, the number of declarable allergens increased from 26 to more than 80. This meant every formulation document and ingredients listing needed to meet more complex compliance standards.
Historically, these documents had been created manually using spreadsheets — a process that was time-consuming, heavily reliant on specialist knowledge, and carried a greater risk of human error.
Wolds Manufacturing Services had trialled commercially available laboratory software in the past, but found many systems difficult to use, overly complex, and inefficient to maintain. They needed a better solution: one tailored specifically to the realities of their business.
Synergi Tech worked closely with the client to understand both the regulatory requirements and the day-to-day workflow of the R&D team.
We developed a bespoke software platform that enables users to manage product formulations, ingredient data, multi-component mixtures, allergen thresholds and declarations, and customer-specific product documentation.
The system automatically applies the relevant cosmetic labelling rules and generates polished, compliant documents ready for use in product registrations, safety assessments, product information files, and packaging support.
Just as importantly, the software was designed to be intuitive and simple to use, allowing non-technical users to work confidently and efficiently from day one.
