IT Technician - Field Based

Join our field services team and deliver exceptional IT support directly to our clients across Lincolnshire. You'll be the face of Synergi Tech, installing and maintaining cutting-edge IT infrastructure whilst building lasting relationships with our valued clients.

About the Role

As a Field-Based IT Technician at Synergi Tech, you'll be our front-line technical expert, travelling to client sites across Lincoln and the surrounding areas to deliver hands-on IT support and infrastructure services. This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

You'll work with businesses of all sizes, from small startups to established enterprises, installing and maintaining network infrastructure, configuring servers, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring our clients' IT systems run smoothly. Your expertise with networking, particularly Ubiquiti UniFi systems, and Microsoft Server environments will be essential to your success in this role.

Important: A valid UK driving licence is essential for this position as you'll be travelling to client sites daily. We provide a company vehicle, fuel card, and all necessary equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site IT support and technical assistance to clients across Lincoln and surrounding areas
  • Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including switches, routers, and access points
  • Deploy and support Ubiquiti UniFi wireless systems and network equipment
  • Install and configure Microsoft Windows Server environments and Active Directory
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
  • Install and configure CCTV systems, access control, and security infrastructure
  • Perform structured cabling installations and network infrastructure projects
  • Document work completed and maintain accurate records of site visits
  • Build strong relationships with clients and deliver exceptional customer service
  • Respond to emergency call-outs when required

Required Skills and Experience

  • Valid UK driving licence (essential - you'll be travelling to client sites daily)
  • Strong networking knowledge including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and switching
  • Hands-on experience with Ubiquiti UniFi products and cloud-based management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and cloud services
  • Understanding of network security principles and best practices
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication skills and customer-facing experience
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
  • Physical capability to lift equipment and work in various environments

Advantageous Skills

Whilst not essential, experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial:

  • Experience with VoIP phone systems and unified communications
  • Knowledge of VMware or Hyper-V virtualisation platforms
  • Familiarity with backup solutions and disaster recovery
  • CCTV and access control system installation experience
  • Structured cabling and fibre optic installation skills
  • Experience with firewall configuration (Sophos, FortiGate, etc.)
  • Relevant industry certifications (CompTIA Network+, Microsoft certifications, etc.)
  • Previous experience in an MSP or IT support environment
